This course focuses on two main topics. The first half of the course examines international affairs and international relations in general. Initially, the course focuses on the historical evolution of international affairs, the current status thereof, and possible future developments. There is a special emphasis placed on politics affairs of the world’s most politically influential countries and the emerging powers of Asia. The second half of the course has a much narrower focus. A specific number of current international crises will be examined and analysed mostly using sources from reputable media outlets. The students will be taught to differentiate bad sources from good ones and also encouraged to form their own opinions on controversial topics. The coursework is largely based upon independent work by the students themselves and discussions where everyone is obliged to take part. During the first half of the course, there will be lectures delivered by the teacher. The course evaluation includes an exam, a detailed report and an essay followed by a presentation

In this course, students will be introduced to gender studies and will explore social conditions associated with gender in society such as sexuality, nationality, age, class, and disability to name a few. The aim of the course is for students to become more knowledgeable about and get an understanding of the history of gender equality and to master the basic concepts of gender studies. Concepts such as gender, sexuality, stereotypes will be discussed. Students focus on their own community and view magazines, movies, politics and the media based on gender ideas.

The subject of this course is geography as a discipline, its practical uses and connection with other fields of study. Different forms of land use are studied, the consequences thereof and implications for the population. Special emphasis is the economy and the utilization of natural resources and how these are interrelated. Key concepts are globalisation, basic demography, food supply, problems of overpopulation, migration, urbanisation and changes in patterns of settlement in general, both domestically and globally. Student evaluation consists of a final examination at the end of term, which weighs in at 50% together with a wide range of student projects throughout the term, both individual and group work.

This basic course aims at introducing learners to the discipline of psychology, it´s nature, history and development. Learners are introduced to the major psychological trends, fundamental concepts and sub-branches in the field. Professions open to qualified psychologists are introduced as well as how to apply psychology to everyday life focusing on psychology of learning and behavior modification. The course further discusses the interplay of thought, behavior and emotions, the concept of self, human interaction, the development of close relationships and human nature in general. Research methods in psychology are introduced and learners get the opportunity to do their own research projects. The teaching will vary with emphasis on lectures, assignments, group discussions and connecting contemporary topics with the theory of psychology by use of multi-media.
